Pac Man Fever

Emma has Pac Man fever and it's hilarious. Our $20 investment in a retro game system is a huge hit. While she might enjoy the game, she'll never understand the significance it has in my and many other lives. I'm actually old enough (barely) to remember the songs, shirts, books, and general mania spawned by Pac Man. It also served as my first exposure to a computer although, I didn't know it at the time. I never could have imagined that some day I'd have my own little five year old cheering section yelling with excitement as I gobbled up those nondescript little dots in a never changing maze. I also never imagined there would be someone laughing hysterically when Blinky, Pinky, Inky, or Clyde finally caught up with me.

You Poor Old Sod

Sorry for the Jethro Tull reference but, how often do you get to use one of those. I'm sitting here staring out the window at 16 palettes of sod rolled like little sausages soaking up the rain. They are all that stands between us and the mud that surrounds our daily life. The landscaper promises that if it doesn't rain tomorrow, he'll carpet our hard earned mud with a new green thatch. Maybe I've watched too many episodes of The Sopranos but, I'm filled with the fear that there is a band of hooligans waiting to smuggle our sod away under the cover of darkness. Maybe I'll sleep on the front porch tonight.
