Baby Care 101

I love this list of baby care tips. Why is it mostly the Dad doing things the wrong way?

I Love the 70's

I'm sure glad I was only eating soft foods in 1973. The Heimlich Maneuver wasn't introduced until 1974! I guess there was a lot of back slapping pre-74.

Power to the People

Actually a lack thereof. What a way to start a Wednesday morning. Waking up to the symphony of chirping devices complaining loudly that the power was out. Totally impressing the heck out of a six-year old by boiling water on the stove. Imagine that, people once actually had to use fire to boil water! Explaining exactly which devices will and will not work due to the lack of power. The toilet, yes. The sink, yes. The lights, no. The Wii, definitely not. The last one turned a minor inconvenience into a tragedy of epic proportions. Yet still, we managed to persevere and get the child off to school and ourselves to Starbucks. The coffee maker, it seems, also ceases to function when the power is out.

Two hours later, Sue and I are still sitting at the Starbucks, wondering who all these people are and why they seem to have nothing better to do on a Wednesday morning. The man behind us telling tales of his inspiration for a better colonoscopy machine. Strangely, no one with him seems interested in his tale. "It's all the air that's the problem!" he exclaims. Some sort of job interview going on to the right. They didn't even offer to buy the guy a cup of coffee! An endless stream of hairdressers from the salon next door running in and out with their plastic aprons. Now the big question, do we go home and chance that the power is back or continue to marvel at the slice of humanity that is Starbucks?
