Don't Throw that Toy Away
Here's an issue that never occurred to me: what happens to all those recalled toys? Especially important is what happens to the ones that contain lead? As a parent, it's tempting to simply throw them away. That may not be the best idea as the lead simply ends up in a landfill and contaminates the ground water. So what are we supposed to do with those 1.6 million Boy Scout patches? Well, even though most manufacturers won't say what they're doing with them, I would say sending them back to the manufacturer is the best bet. Hopefully, they are being regulated. Although, I guess if they were being regulated, we wouldn't have lead in the toys in the first place.
